Sports and Remedial Massage
We offer this deep tissue sports massage to target specific muscles, problem areas, knots and trigger points. It is excellent pre-exercise as a part of your warm up, or post event to flush out all the waste products and lactic acid and relieve stiffness. It is also hugely beneficial for your daily life style relieving built up tension caused by everyday stresses.
Muscle and Tendon Strains/Ligament Sprains
It is common for athletes to “run off” this type of injury, or simply stop participating in their sport for a week or so until it settles down. This however is not the correct healing process as strains and sprains need proper rehabilitation in order to gain the relevant strength, flexibility and stability to not only enable you to play again, but to avoid the dreaded repeat injury. Untreated, these injuries leave scar tissue and weakness which can potentially often lead to further problems.
Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
Plantar Fasciitis is a painful and common condition caused by overuse of the Plantar Fascia or arch tendon of the foot. The Plantar Fascia is a broad, thick band of tissue that runs from under the heel to the front of the foot which frequently becomes inflamed. We will asses individual conditions and offer effective treatment to relieve pain and inflammation.
Back, Neck and Shoulder Pain
Injuries to these areas can be particularly debilitating. We can assess and treat the problem quickly getting you back on your feet again. This may include a rehabilitation programme that not only helps with the stiffness/soreness, but can help the injury from reoccurring.
Joint pain can not only make playing sport difficult but also affects your day to day life. Common problem joints include the knee, hips, pelvis and shoulders. A combination of manual therapy and rehabilitation is the most effective way to reduce swelling, increase your range of motion and enable the joint to return to its correct function.
Posture can have a massive affect on the body's soft tissues. For example, short tight chest muscles combined with long, weak shoulder and upper back muscles will create the rounded shoulders we all try to avoid. If you feel your posture isn't as it should be, we can assess and correct it before problems occur.
Rehabilitation Following Surgery
Sports rehabilitation is vital if surgery is to be a full success. We can help you achieve your range of motion; strength and confidence in order to gain the full potential of the operation.
An extremely common problem for many adults, sciatica is the term used to describe a shooting, stabbing or dull pain in the back of the thigh and buttocks. It is caused by referred pain from a nerve entrapment around the joints and musculature of the lower back. Why suffer any longer? We can correct the problem and relieve the pain quickly and effectively.
Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
